@stuckinarut2 It's their way of redeeming themselves before Jehovah (WT) and using their "outing" of an apostate as a means to make up for inactivity.

Comparing 1987 to 2017 --- cart witnessing
by pleaseresearch intake a ride with me back to 1987. picture yourself in your town, or city centre.
remember the clothes people wore, the hairstyles etc.... now imagine yourself doing your ministry out on the street, engaging with people, speaking with them, striking up conversations.
now, how would you feel, and what would you say, if you noticed two people appear nearby with a cart.

Mind blown. The changes in the organization are so subtle and gradual that we don't really notice them. But to juxtapose the two decades like you just did reveals how hypocritical the Society is. Watchtower IS the Christendom they loathe and wish to eviscerate.

Are JWs "mind trained" to be habitual liars?
by nonjwspouse ini don't mean overly obvious, or otherwise meaning to cause harm, but taught to lie for the purpose of avoidance.
this type of lying can be pervasive in areas of life that are not just to avoid discussions with people who have questions about the jw, etc.
my husband will lie/be deceitful about the silliest, simple things.

Most of the counsel given in the Theocratic Ministry School (which teaches Witnesses how to conduct themselves during house-to-house encounters) has this undertone:

Looks like the angels directed these sisters to the right house, because this is the ONLY home that truly represents who is TRULY PRAYING to be contacted by the Witnesses.
Nobody.

Desperation. That was my reason for returning after a few years out. I'd gotten hooked on drugs, was trying hard to maintain sobriety due to pregnancy and was in the process of leaving the abusive addict who was my unborn baby's father. With no where else to go, I fell right back in the trap of the organization.

Another JW Urban Legend Thread
by Funchback inthreads about jw urban legends are nothing new on this forum.
they are loads of fun to read.
how many of you remember the one about the teenager who skipped the meeting and decided to get into a car with his worldly friends and they worldly guys decided to rob a store and the jw didn't know they were going to do so but he was arrested simply for being with them?.

My story is similar to @pale.emperor's one. Two sisters are invited in at a door. The man sits them down while silently plotting how to kill/dismember them in the most grotesque way possible. As he goes to get up to get a knife from the kitchen, he feels glued to the chair, as though an invisible hand with supernatural strength is holding him down from the shoulder. An angel was protecting the sisters.
So... let me get this straight. The psycho killer is unable to commit a gruesome murder. So he then goes on to share his story and motives and supernatural encounter with the public/news outlets? Alas, as a child hearing this Witness folklore, I lacked the insight to ask such a question. Instead, I marveled at how protected we are by Jehovah's spirit creatures. Spirit creatures who fail to protect innocent children from being raped by elders. The Holy Spirit needs an HR intervention.

Can someone direct @CitizenofEarth to the "Wow, I do not recognize this religion anymore" thread? I'm not sure how to navigate this site properly yet.
Basically, @CitizenofEarth, the entire thing is a total circus. That's all.

Convention In The News "...all questions regarding Jehovah's Witnesses are welcome"
by pale.emperor inhttp://www.wday.com/news/4291635-thousands-plan-gather-jehovahs-witness-dont-give-convention.
this weekend thousands of people are gathering at the scheels arena in celebration of their faith.. jehovah's witnesses from around the world are assembling for the "don't give up" convention.. .
the morning starts with a music presentation and then continues on through the day with prayer, song, and speeches.. the theme centers around supporting each other and including everyone in the good will.. everyone is invited and all questions regarding jehovah's witnesses are welcome.. really?

What does it take to qualify for cart/trolley work?
by Londo111 inif memory serves me, when it was first introduced elders had to fill out a form to grade a jw, and only those who made the grade could do the carts.. i didn’t realize until sir82 said something on another discussion that the process had changed.. what is the process nowadays?
.

@stuckinarut2 I don't know how you kept witnessing while being awake. If I had the gall to still go house-to-house or even sit at the cart, I'd tell anyone who came in contact with me "psst - get out of here. It's a cult. I'm being held against my will. Run for your life!" While smiling and handing them the literature, my eyes would be blinking to the Morse Code rhythm of SOS.

Cart Witnesses Today - I am not impressed
by pale.emperor injust approached a cart then with two jw girls holding out mags.
they continued chatting to each other about car insurance when i took the watchtower from one of their hands.. ok, so it looks like i'll have to get the ball rolling.
i asked if they were jehovahs witness.

Too bad the carts don't have customer satisfaction feedback forms. I'd want to speak to their manager!
